Senior Pastor
Joe Dunson is the senior pastor of a multi-ethnic, diverse congregation in Lawrenceville, Georgia. His dynamic teaching style and uncanny ability to make people understand the gospel message is the reason he has been such an asset to ministries across cultural and denominational lines.
As a native of Columbia, South Carolina, Pastor Joe moved to the Buford and Sugar Hill area in the early 90’s with his family. He received his Bachelor’s Degree (BS) from Saint Andrews University in Laurinburg, North Carolina in 1986 and his Nuclear Medicine Degree from Midland Technical College and University of South Carolina in 1989. He practiced nuclear medicine at Emory University where he received the Emory Distinguished Award in Nuclear Medicine for Patient Care. He served as past president for the Georgia Society of Nuclear Medicine Technology and received numerous awards.
Pastor Joe started his ministry as an Associate Pastor of Pastoral Care and Biblical Guidance at Hebron Baptist Church where he was called into the ministry in 2005 and ordained in 2010. He studied at Columbia Bible College and is presently enrolled in Dallas Theological Seminary for his Masters of Divinity. He is the Mission Outreach Director for the Gwinnett Metro Baptist Association and also serves as a Chaplain for Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse. Pastor Jos is happily married to Patricia, his lovely bride since 1989, and they have four adult children – Joshua, Charles, Jovonia, and Davie.
Relentless in his vision and clear in his principle, Pastor Joe stands strong in his commitment to share the joy of God’s love through the dynamic of contemporary worship, aggressive outreach, caring relationships, and daring discipleship. He takes very seriously his commissioned mandate to “Go you therefore, and teach all nations”, Matthew 28:18-20. His responsibility to this directive has led him to preach the gospel to many local communities while supporting missions worldwide.
